PATRICK, meet Jacob.

Victoria’s team for AFL Origin is continuing to take shape, with Carlton’s Jacob Weitering forming a key part of the Big V’s defence.

One of nine inclusions into the Victoria team named on Wednesday morning, the dual John Nicholls Medallist was confirmed as a starter in the backline alongside a host of key names.

While the likes of Max Gawn, Tom Stewart and Toby Greene joined Weitering in the team for the Saturday 14 February clash at Optus Stadium, it’s the battle of two Navy Blue favourites which will dominate viewing for Carlton fans.

Sharing seven of the last 11 John Nicholls Medals between, Cripps was the first player named for WA for Origin’s return - and his long-time vice captain is now confirmed to be in opposition come February 2026.

Half the Victorian team is now locked in for the clash with Western Australia early next year, which will be broadcast on the Seven Network (including 7plus) plus FOX Footy (and Kayo Sports).

Tickets are now on sale: for more details, head to Origin.AFL.
