IT’S DRAFT night.

The 2025 Telstra AFLW Draft will take place tonight (Monday 15 December), with Carlton holding two selections for the big night at Marvel Stadium.

The Blues are currently preparing to welcome some more elite young talent after a trade period which saw the Club welcome three new players through the doors of IKON Park.

How can I tune in?

The 2025 Telstra AFLW Draft will take place from 7pm at Marvel Stadium.

All the proceedings will be broadcast live on FOX Footy and Kayo Sports: in previous years, it has been streamed on the AFL website.

When is Carlton picking?

Good question.

Entering the draft, the Blues hold picks Nos.16 and 34, the original picks they held leading into the trade period after making a preliminary final in 2025.

However, don’t expect those picks to reflect when the Blues will actually be picking - in particular, the first-round selection at pick No.16.

While there is no live trading in the Telstra AFLW Draft, a bevy of Academy selections in the first round means the Blues’ first selection is likely to be pushed back to potentially the 20s.

How many list spots do the Blues hold?

Wow, another good question!

The Blues have two vacant list spots to fill, having already welcomed Lauren Bella, Claudia Whitfort (both Gold Coast) and Brooke Boileau.

The AFLW competition has also introduced the pre-season draft, allowing clubs to fill any vacant list spots due to inactive player replacements.

How did the Blues fare in last year’s draft?

Well. Very well.

You only have to look at the top five of the AFLW Rising Star to see just how much the Blues got out of their 2024 haul.

Poppy Scholz was selected with the Blues’ first selection, with the youngster finishing runner-up in the award in a season where she played every game and made an incredible impact at both ends of the ground.

Also selected in the first round was father-daughter selection Sophie McKay, the energy giver of the Blues’ AFLW side that ended the campaign as the team’s leading goalkicker.

The third selection on the night was Lou-Lou Field, who debuted in season 2025 and has Blues officials excited by her class coming out of the back half.

What are the Blues looking for from this year’s draft haul?

We can’t tell you that, sorry. It’s confidential.

But according to Carlton head of AFLW Ash Naulty, the Blues will be looking at not only the best available talent, but individuals who will complement the team both on and off the field.

“We'll continue to add to the layers of our new group and the evolution of our brand of football. Ultimately, they're going to be fantastic Carlton people, and we're really excited to walk in the doors on Monday night.”
