"When I heard about the Carlton Respect's Run I thought, we have to be a part of this."

With the second installment of Carlton's Run For Respect only a few days away, Akira and Neville - two passionate Carlton supporters - spoke to Carlton Media on why they're lacing up the boots this Sunday.

Meet 11-year-old Akira - a young Bluebagger leading the way towards a brighter future.

"I'm running for the young kids who haven't got the right role models in their lives. The loud ones who think violence is strength, and the quiet ones who are watching," Akira told Carlton Media.

"I started running for fitness, and I found out about the Run For Respect and it combines two things I love - going for a nice run and the idea of raising money for an amazing cause.

"I went to my local MP, he was really supportive and listened to me, so a huge thanks to him as well."

With Run for Respect catering for all age demographics, meet Neville, an inspiring 83-year-old 'Bagger who will be running 10km this Sunday for a cause he is deeply concerned about.

"When I heard about the Carlton Respect's Run I thought, we have to be a part of this."

"It's a cause we are really keen and concerned about. Coming to grips with what seems to be happening in our society with so many women especially being damaged and even killed by their partners.

"I'll be running the 10km, my son will be running the 10km, my granddaughter will be running 10km. We have a few in the 5km and a few walkers in the 3km.

"I'm looking forward to seeing all the family down here, it will just be such a great experience."
