CARLTON has named nine AFL-listed players for its VFL practice match against Geelong.

Kicking off from 2pm at IKON Park, it’ll be another chance for the Carlton Reserves to gel ahead of the VFL season, with the Blues to play their first game in late March.

It will also given the opportunity for a number of Blues to stake their claim for selection for the AFL campaign, which kicks off in eight days in Sydney.

Nic Newman will continue his comeback trail from injury with a second straight VFL hitout, having completed a half in last week’s practice match against Coburg.

Ben Camporeale and Hudson O’Keeffe will both feature for the Reserves after travelling with the AFL team to Brisbane last week, while Flynn Young will have his first taste of the action of any kind for 2026.

They will be joined by fellow AFL-listed players Lucas Camporeale, Harry Charleson, Jack Ison, Rob Monahan and Matthew Duffy.

The Reserves will also get a good look at their new VFL core for the season ahead, with familiar faces Ethan Phillips and Darcy Hogg - the top two in last year’s team Best and Fairest - joined by the likes of Darcy Tucker and Alwyn Davey, who both hit the scoreboard last weekend.

The game is not ticketed, meaning the public can arrive at IKON Park from 1:30pm from gates open. The venue will be closed for cleaning post-match, with patrons needing a ticket for the AAMI Community Series clash between the Blues and Cats later tonight.

Today’s game will not be live-streamed, but a full match report will be available on the Carlton website after the game.
