MINUTES in the legs.

Ollie Hollands and Carlton officially brought their pre-season to a close on Wednesday night with a 15-point win over Geelong and - importantly - plenty of positives from an individual and team perspective.

One of the Blues’ brightest on the night, Hollands finished with 24 disposals and a goal after playing largely on the wing, a position he played almost exclusively in his first two years in Navy Blue.

Now preparing for season No.4 with 65 Carlton games under his belt, Hollands has spent his pre-season rounding out his skillset to be the best version of himself… whether that’s on the wing or elsewhere.

“I think so [more wing time],” Hollands told Carlton Media.

“Getting able to play multiple roles is something I want to go after and something I want to chase individually. It gives ‘Vossy’ some flexibility.

“It was nice to get out there on the wing and run around, ticking a few more km’s over. Hopefully this year I’ll be playing a few roles throughout the season.”

What else was “nice” to see on Wednesday night was the link-up between the Hollands brother, 48 hours after Elijah’s return to the Carlton list was made possible.

There was a stage where the two thought their time playing together in Navy Blue could be up in the air, so for Ollie, the news of this week put a massive smile on his face.

“I’m incredibly proud of him, and to be able to continue our journey together is something I’m really happy about.

“These are the reasons why you want to play footy - I’m one of very few that gets to play with their brother. For Elijah to be able to continue on with pursuing his dream… this is where he wants to be, he didn’t want to be anywhere else.

“He wanted to get back to working hard and put his best foot forward, which he was able to do in pre-season.”

The next assignment? A trip to Sydney next Thursday night.

“What a great way to start the season, Opening Round and the first game of the year.

“The Swans have had the wood over us in the last few years: we’re super hungry to get out there and kickstart our season in a good way.”
