FINDING all the positives.

After sustaining a rib fracture injury just under two weeks ago, Jacob Weitering says he is feeling much better - ready for whatever comes his way in the next seven days before Opening Round.

"I'm feeling much better, and I'm thankful it went the way it did. It was nasty to watch back in a sense, but had plenty of well wishes and messages which was lovely," Weitering told FOX Footy.

"I got a run out today and we will see how we go for Opening Round."

Despite only playing 15 minutes in State of Origin, the All-Australian defender says he has no regrets, still full of optimism about the experience he had.

"I absolutely loved the experience, the culture we were able to build in a few days was brilliant. The coaches, I thought Garry [Lyon] did a terrific job at motivating the boys."

"Playing with Tom Stewart, 'Dimma' [Blake] Hardwick, Josh Battle for the 15 minutes that I did was a privilege, so if I get the opportunity next year I'd love to."

Now, his attention turns to giving himself the best chance to take the field next Thursday night at the SCG, when Carlton come up against Sydney for the season's opener.

"To be drafted with Charlie Curnow and play 10 years with him, we're obviously pretty good mates but there's going to be 120 minutes next week where we're going to get an opportunity to go at each other and see who comes out on top. I'm sure it will be a great battle.

"I'd love to go to him to start off, but we'll see how the game transpires."
