CARLTON has named its team to take on Footscray in a VFL practice match at IKON Park.
Kicking off from 5pm, the Blues confirmed earliest in the week that a trio of AFL-listed players will play their first games of the year against the Dogs.
Blake Acres, Matthew Carroll and Lachie Cowan will all return to action, having overcome their respective injury delays in recent weeks.
All three emergencies from the AFL side on Thursday night - Jordan Boyd, Talor Byrne and Hudson O’Keeffe - have also been named.
There’s a strong AFL contingent to take on the reigning VFL premiers, with SSP signing Wade Derksen named as well as Flynn Young, after four goals last week against Geelong.
From a VFL perspective, the Blues will get their first look at new recruit Jaiden Magor, who arrived at the Blues this off-season after time with Sydney’s VFL program and South Adelaide in the SANFL.
Logan Prout will continue his recovery from an ACL injury, while there are starts for familiar faces Ethan Phillips, Sam Paea and Darcy Hogg.
There will be no live stream of the game, but a full match report will be available post-match.
