A CENTURY in Navy Blue.

It’s 100 up for Mitch McGovern, with the versatile Blue confirmed to reach a century of Carlton games this weekend.

McGovern will run out on Sunday for the Blues game against Melbourne for that milestone game, seven years and one week after he made his Navy Blue debut in 2019.

It’s been a story of persistence for McGovern, who - after a disrupted start to life at Carlton - has been a consistent face in the Blues line-up since 2023.

McGovern was traded to the Blues at the end of 2018 following a deal with the Crows, initially playing as a forward.

It was then in 2022, when Michael Voss arrived at IKON Park, where McGovern became an intercept defender. But the 31-year-old has shown as recently as last week that he still has the capacity to swing forward.

Not only has McGovern been a consistent face on the field for Carlton, but he's also been a leading voice in the Club's involvement of the Good Friday SuperClash against North Melbourne, initiating the Blues' Good Friday Appeal Auction for the last three years.

Speaking after the Round 1 win over Richmond, McGovern said the opportunity to join some significant names on the No.11 locker - in particular, Carlton Legend Bruce Doull - was an honour not lost on him.

“I’ll be super stoked if I do get selected and get to play that game, it’s an honour and a privilege,” McGovern said.

“There are some incredible names on the No.11 locker, and I’m incredibly proud to hopefully be under them… it’ll be unreal.”
