IN: Nic Newman.
For the first time in 573 days, Nic Newman will pull on the Navy Blue jumper at AFL level, as one of four changes for the Good Friday SuperClash.
Playing his first game since the 2024 elimination final, Newman returns to the Carlton fold after a knee injury ruled out his entire 2025 campaign.
A much-loved member of the Blues’ defensive setup, the veteran was in career-best form prior to his setback, as he’ll look to provide Carlton with some of his customary ball use and leadership coming out of the back half.
He is joined by Adam Cerra, with the classy midfielder returning for his first game of the campaign following a pre-season hamstring injury.
Cerra provides a point of difference to the Blues’ on-ball brigade, linking up with long-time teammates Patrick Cripps, George Hewett and Sam Walsh in the middle of the ground.
It was already confirmed on Thursday that Wade Derksen would make his AFL debut against the Roos, while Jordan Boyd will also return to the fold.
Impressing in pre-season, Boyd - who’ll look to back in his ball use from defence - has been recalled for the first time this season, after three games in 2025 (two of those as sub).
Harry Dean was a confirmed out due to concussion, while after undergoing further assessment during the week, Zac Williams was ruled out of Friday’s game due to a rib injury.
Campbell Chesser and Hudson O’Keeffe have been omitted.
