Here's everything you need to know about new Blue Lachie Plowman, who has joined Carlton from Greater Western Sydney alongside Liam Sumner, Jed Lamb, Andrew Phillips and pick No.8 in exchange for picks No.28, 77, 95 and Geelong's 2016 first-round draft pick:

Draft history: Selected at pick No.3 by Greater Western Sydney in the 2012 National Draft
Debut: Round 1, 2013 v Sydney

2015 season: A nasty elbow injury in pre-season limited Plowman to just two games in 2015. The 21-year-old returned via the Giants’ reserves in Round 14, before making his first senior appearance of the season against Carlton in Round 22.

Best AFL performance: Plowman worked his way into the senior line-up for the final seven games of the 2014 season, with his Round 22 performance against Collingwood a highlight. The former first-round draft pick had 16 disposals and eight tackles in defence, as the Giants were narrowly beaten on home soil.

He said it: “He's a very, very good player. Key defenders are hard to find and he's just a ripper kid who is very optimistic. He's a good kick and he seems to make impeccable decisions.”

What we can expect: The highly rated Plowman could slot straight into Carlton’s back six in 2016, particularly given Lachie Henderson’s departure. He has a terrific ability to win the ball in the air and at ground level, along with poise and good decision-making skills. He has drawn comparisons to three-time Geelong premiership player Andrew Mackie.
