Jagga Smith and Will Hayward spoke to Carlton Media after Carlton's 11-point loss to Brisbane at the Gabba on Friday night.

Here’s what they had to say:

Jagga’s key takeaways from the loss:

“First off it’s extremely disappointing, there’s no such thing as honourable losses. It was just a tale of two halves, the first half was extremely disappointing our pressure was down, but we got our game going in the second half. It shows what we can do probably against the best team in the competition.

Jagga on more midfield minutes on Friday night:

“Yeah I enjoy my time in there, I try to add a bit of a spark. We’ve got some great players in there with George, Cez, Walshy, Crippa. Just trying to learn from them, and when I get my opportunity use my quick feet, and try to add something to do the mix.”

Jagga on learning off Walsh and Cripps:

“I couldn’t speak anymore highly of them. They’re amazing people, amazing leaders - people I really look up to. They’re positive guys, they’re the guys that will take this Club forward. Tonight I got to work with them, but it’s just disappointing we’re not getting the results.”

Jagga’s message to the Blues fans:

“Just stay with us, there were positive signs there in the second half. We’re not accepting the loss, but there’s some definite takeaways, just stay with us and we’ll get there.”

Hayward on Vossy’s message post-game:

“It’s just a tale of two halves. The fight we showed was incredible and it’s stuff that makes you proud of the group. But it doesn’t make it hurt any less, there’s definitely some confidence to come from that, but we definitely let ourselves down in the first half. We’ve got some improvement there, overall the fight we showed was amazing.”

Hayward on the group’s second half energy:

“I think it’s when we’re celebrating little acts that don’t take skill - effort based stuff - that’s what I think. Our first half our effort-based stuff and energy was a bit down. When we’re getting around guys for chasing, and getting a fingertip in, that gets the group up and about. So we try to get the energy, and I think that can really turn the game on its head. If we can do that for four quarters and play our way for four quarters, I think there’s some nice signs there.”
