BRYCE Gibbs has finished first outright on Carlton's Brownlow Medal leaderboard for the first time in his career.

The 28-year-old polled 11 votes in the count at Crown Palladium on Monday night, finishing two ahead of teammate Marc Murphy.

Veteran Kade Simpson continued to defy the odds, placing third for Carlton with eight votes and just one shy of his season-best achieved in 2010 and 2013.

Sam Petrevski-Seton became the first current Blue since Rhys Palmer in 2008 to have a three-vote game in his maiden AFL season.

The silky midfielder earned top votes for his 21-disposal, two-goal performance in the win over Collingwood.

Ten Blues shared 53 votes, with reliable defender Sam Rowe collecting his first vote for his role in the Blues' 15-point victory against Essendon in Round 3.

A Carlton player received maximum votes in five losses - Gibbs (North Melbourne), Patrick Cripps (Richmond, Round 14), Simpson (Melbourne, Round 16), Murphy (West Coast) and Liam Jones (Adelaide).

Jones, who played 12 games in 2017, collected another two votes in the return fixture against Essendon to finish with five.

The Carlton Football Club congratulates 2017 Brownlow Medallist Dustin Martin on a remarkable season.
