THE VFLW Blues will aim for their second win of the season after last week's thrilling draw against the Hawks in Round 10.

Returning to Ikon Park, the Blues will be buoyed by the inclusion of a number of Carlton AFLW listed players including Madison Prespakis, Abbie McKay and Nicola Stevens, while fans will also get their first look at ex-Magpie Georgie Parker.

The game kicks off at 10:30am with live coverage available via WARF Radio.

Last time they met:

The Blues secured a comprehensive victory over Williamstown at Ikon Park in Round 10 last season, winning by a comfortable 29 points.

A number of familiar names were among the best, with Chloe Dalton the pick of the mix. Natalie Plane and Sarah Hosking were also crucial in the win, helping the Blues across the midfield and backline respectively.

Player to watch: Bry Gurr

Gurr played her best game in Carlton colours against Hawthorn, sparking a remarkable comeback with two last quarter goals at La Trobe University.

Having started the season up forward, Gurr has found herself spending more time in the midfield - a role she has excelled in. 

Gurr was named in the VFLW Round 11 Team of the Week,  and was also awarded best on ground by coach Shannon McFerran for her efforts against the Hawks.

Opposition to watch: Moana Hope

The former Collingwood and North Melbourne AFLW forward has had strong season for Williamstown, averaging 22 disposals from seven games.

She is ranked fifth in the league for disposals, thanks to a season high 39 disposals against Melbourne Uni in Round 5.

Hope will be aiming to help her team bounce back from a 25-point loss against Collingwood last week.

“They’re definitely a team that’s got a lot of spirit and a lot of fight.

“They’ve had a couple of close encounters with other teams, but the way that we move the ball and being able to run and carry the footy should hold us in good stead.

“We’ve hit the scoreboard more in the last couple of games, so we’re looking forward to hopefully getting a win.”
