HARD work pays off.

Nic Newman is in line for his 150th AFL game this Saturday at Marvel Stadium.

A story of pure resilience, the milestone is a long time coming for Newman, who was drafted to Sydney as a mature-age recruit out of the VFL with Frankston.

The 2014 Fothergill-Round Medallist (the standout young player in the VFL) toiled away for two years before earning his Swans debut, playing 31 games across the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Newman then returned to Melbourne when he became a Blue on Deadline Day at the end of 2018, quickly proving to be an astute signing for his impact both on and off the field.

Despite two seasons (2020 and 2025) ravaged by injury, Newman’s standing at IKON Park has seen him become a Navy Blue centurion.

He has reminded everyone of his on-field capabilities this season, overcoming a long-term knee injury to slot in seamlessly down back where he achieved consecutive runner-up finishes in the 2023 and 2024 John Nicholls Medal counts.

Additionally, his standing at the Club was showcased by receiving three Best Clubman awards in 2020, 2022 and 2023 for his contributions across the Club in each of those respective seasons.
