CARLTON remain winless for another week, but not without the best efforts of forward Ed Curnow who kicked four majors against the Swans.

It was a frustrating day for the Blues when they met Sydney at Marvel Stadium on Saturday, falling 19 points short to the visitors.

“The group really thought they could get this game over the line," said Curnow after the match.

“It’s disappointing that they were able to get so much uncontested play and we were unable to get that ourselves.”

While it was another close loss, the Blues were able to combat the fourth-quarter fade out that hindered them in the first two rounds.

“We ended up have 19 inside 50s to five in the last quarter, so I think it shows the run is there,” he said.

“We just need to be smarter in adapting to certain styles of game throughout the whole four quarters.”

Making the switch to the forward line this year, Curnow showed great signs finishing with four goals for the match.

“I think I got a little bit lucky today, playing up forward you’ve got to take your opportunities,” he said of his forward line dominance.

“I had a couple of nice little snaps that went my way today, so I’ll let Charlie know about that.”

The Blues will continue to chase that first when they face Gold Coast away at Metricon Stadium next Sunday.

“We like travelling together as a group,” he said of the trip to Queensland.

“The group are really disappointed – which is a good thing – they are driven to turn around and get a win next week.”
