CARLTON has selected former Demon and Giant Tomas Bugg with pick No.18 in the 2018 NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

Known for his fierce tackling pressure, Bugg played 65 games for GWS between 2012 and 2015 before a trade to the Melbourne Football Club saw him play another 31 games over a three-year period.

The 25-year-old’s AFL highlights include a four-goal and 16-disposal display in a Round 3 win against North Melbourne this year. He also amassed 33 disposals, nine marks and four tackles for GWS against Melbourne in 2014.

Bugg has played all over the ground throughout his career, including roles as a pressure forward, a small defender and as a midfielder, showcasing great flexibility.

GM of Strategy and List Management Stephen Silvagni said Bugg had impressed Carlton’s recruitment team while training with the Club in the lead-up to the draft, setting a strong standard on the track.

“We feel that Tom will add some uncompromising pressure to our forward half, which we think will benefit the side," he said.

“We all know Tom’s competitive edge and his hunger for the contest, that is where we believe he will be a terrific addition to our playing group.”
