CARLTON youngster Chris Yarran is relishing the chance to play in a forward-line with fellow indigenous stars Eddie Betts and Jeff Garlett, with the three slowly establishing themselves as the most lethal small forward combination in the AFL.

The trio finished the game with seven goals between them as the Blues upset Geelong for the second consecutive year, running out 36-point winners in front of 71,399 fans at the MCG.

For Yarran, the opportunity to line up alongside his closest teammates is one that he believes brings out the best of him.

“I grew up with Jeffrey, so I have a fair idea on how he is going to play,” the 19-year old said. "Eddie is a good leader towards us - he took us under his wing since we got to the club.

“It is good to have us three in the side and it was a special moment for all of us to just contribute really well on the day.”

Yarran finished with two goals, including the sealer from 50m on the boundary that virtually sealed the victory that has the Blues sitting in sixth spot on the ladder - one spot above the reigning premiers.

“I was pretty confident I could kick it so lucky enough I got onto it pretty good and it went straight through the middle,” he said.

Yarran believes the side has rediscovered its self-confidence and belief, with the 20-point loss to Essendon in round three now a distant memory.

“The group is very confident with where we are going. Geelong are probably one of the best teams in the competition going around so to beat them like we did today will give us a lot of confidence going forward,” he said.

The Blues take on arch-enemy Collingwood at the MCG next Sunday afternoon, with Yarran confident his teammates can make it three wins in a row.

“They tapped us up last year but hopefully we can bring the same attitude like we did today and if we play like that we could probably beat any team.”
