The Carlton Football Club is thrilled to announce the acquisition of livewire Jack Martin.

The Blues secured Martin via the 2019 pre-season draft and in doing so welcomed a dynamic midfield-forward with elite skills, poise and decision-making. The 24-year-old will add yet another dimension to an exciting and emerging front half for Carlton.

Martin played 97 games and kicked 81 goals for the Suns across six seasons, with consecutive top three best-and-fairest finishes in 2016 and 2017.

His performance in Round 2 earlier this year highlighted his game-breaking ability when he produced 24 disposals, six inside 50s, three tackles and a goal to earn the three Brownlow votes in a come-from-behind win against Fremantle.

A highly-touted junior, Martin was drafted to the Suns with pick No.1 in the 2012 mini-draft.

Carlton GM of List Management and Strategy Stephen Silvagni said the Club was delighted to bring yet another talented player through the doors of Ikon Park.

“We are really happy to welcome Jack to our club: he has tremendous talent but more importantly a determination to make the most of that talent and be part of a successful side here at Carlton,” Silvagni said.

“He will strengthen our forward line and also has the ability to play through the midfield and down back which will be a real asset for us.

“At 24 years of age and with 97 games of AFL experience under his belt, bringing Jack to the football club perfectly aligns with the list management strategy we have committed to over the last few years.

“We believe Jack will be able to have an immediate impact at Ikon Park from day one of pre-season and we look forward to seeing him excite the Carlton faithful for many years to come.”
