The AFL Trade Period enters its second week today, with a number of high-profile moves still yet to be completed.

Here’s a wrap of what’s being said about the Blues in the media this morning:

Carlton remains hopeful of securing Kristian Jaksch (pick 12 in 2012 NAB AFL Draft) and Mark Whiley and pick No.19 from Greater Western Sydney in exchange for the Blues' pick seven.

Given two of the selections preceding pick 19 have already being used in the father-son and academy bidding meeting it would effectively be pick 17.

However the Blues might have a fight on their hands to get Jason Tutt.

Tutt requested a trade from the Bulldogs after just 26 games in four seasons and identified Carlton as his preferred destination. However coach Brendan McCartney's resignation on Friday has thrown that trade up in the air.

AFL.com.au understands the Bulldogs are keen to retain the 23-year-old.

A trade involving Carlton and the Giants was in place on Sunday night, with the clubs waiting on GWS midfielder Mark Whiley to decide whether he wanted to play for the Blues given other clubs had shown earlier interest.

Carlton would send pick 7 to the Giants in that deal, sliding down the first round order to No.19 and gaining key position prospect Kristian Jaksch.

Jeff Garlett is off to Melbourne for picks 61 and 79. Has its sights set on Liam Jones and Kristian Jaksch after losing Jarrad Waite to North Melbourne on Friday. The club is confident of securing Jones with its third round selection and also has interest in Jones’ teammate Jason Tutt.

However, the AFL has thrown a spanner in the works after offering the Blues no compensation for Waite.

The Blues are frantically trying to find a way to get Jaksch, who is keen on joining them, but they may need a third party to lure to get the deal done.

Kane Lucas remains without a contract and is looking for another home, but recruiting manager Shane Rogers hinted the 23-year-old could stay at the Blues if a trade is not secured.
