Waite now readies for game number 150; Simpson resumes three weeks after sustaining a broken jaw and White gets his chance one year and one month to the day since his last senior appearance - 15 round of 2011 when the Blues inflicted a 103-point hammering of Richmond at the MCG.
Waite, who is also closing in on his late father Vin’s games record of 153 in the No. 30 guernsey, has not played since the Round 7 match with St Kilda at the same venue. A debilitating back injury saw him miss 11 weeks of football, but a successful comeback for the Northern Blues last Sunday, followed by another good week on the training track, ensured his selection for the Swans contest.
Simpson, who suffered a broken jaw and concussion in an horrendous collision in the 15th round match with Collingwood at the MCG, has also been given the green light, as has White, who has strung together the last four matches with the Northern Blues in the VFL.
Kane Lucas and David Ellard have also been named in the 25-man squad for Sunday’s game, both included on the seven man extended interchange bench. Lucas was a late withdrawal from last week’s game due to illness while Ellard has played with the Northern Blues since Carlton’s round 14 match against Hawthorn.
Nick Duigan and Frazer Dale have both been omitted from last week’s team.
The final 22 will be announced on the Carlton website tomorrow afternoon and the squad will have a final training session on Saturday morning at 10:00am at Visy Park. Supporters are welcome to attend with the Carlton Shop and the Carlton Café open for business on Saturday morning.
