TRAIN-ON player Ryan Sturgess will feature for Carlton in tonight’s Marsh Community Series opener.

Sturgess will join Callum Moore in the clash with Fremantle, with the duo announced as two of the four players training with the Blues.

Sturgess will replace Lachie Plowman in the line-up: the versatile defender will miss due to soreness.

It was announced earlier this month that Carlton would have four players training with the Club as potential supplementary selection period (SSP) recruits.

Those training with the Club are eligible to be selected in Marsh Community Series games.

Who are the two unlisted Blues pulling on the Carlton jumper tonight?

Callum Moore: A versatile forward with four years of experience at the elite level, Moore played eight games for Richmond since being drafted prior to the 2016 season. Possessing an impressive vertical leap and a strong pair of hands, Moore - who is capable of playing at either end - plays taller than his 193-centimetre frame suggests. His best AFL performance came in the 2018 Dreamtime at the ‘G, where he collected six marks and had five shots on goal.

Moore will wear the No.47 guernsey.

Ryan Sturgess: Playing his football for the Northern Knights and Vic Metro in 2019, Sturgess plays primarily as a defender but showed in his underage career that he can play multiple roles. The best friend (and former teammate) of Carlton draftee Sam Philp, Sturgess’ strength is his aerial work and athleticism. He turned 18 last November and while you’re more likely to see him stationed in defence, he also kicked nine goals from 13 NAB League games last year.ur

Sturgess will wear the No.48 guernsey.
