THE CARLTON Football Club is delighted to announce that Minus18 and the Carlton Pride Group will each receive $3,500 as a result of the Club auctioning off the players’ match-worn and player-issued Pride guernseys.

This year the Game Changers decided to split the proceeds from the auction between Minus18 and the Carlton Pride Group, to acknowledge the tremendous work of both organisations.

The money raised towards the Carlton Pride Group will help them facilitate more events and fundraisers to support people in the LGBTIQ community.

Minus18 will use the proceeds to enable more LGBTIQ people to access their events as well as helpful resources, digital content and videos.

Just six dollars is enough to provide a young person with resources on sexuality and gender identity, which highlights just how much the $3,500 will mean to the organisation.

Blues forward and lead designer for this year’s Carlton Pride guernsey Darcy Vescio said it was a privilege to be able to assist the LGBTIQ community with these proceeds.

“On behalf of the players, we’re so grateful that the proceeds from our Pride Guernsey auction went to two great organisations,” Vescio said.

“Upon deciding where we would like our proceeds to go, our playing group was committed to providing assistance to both Minus18 and the Carlton Pride Group, as both do so much work to support the LGBTIQ community.

“Hearing Carlton Pride Group treasurer Rochelle Pattison speak to the group in the lead-up to the Pride Game made us appreciate that we were playing for more than just four points.

“We are honoured to continue providing a safe and inclusive environment for members of the LGBTIQ community.”

The Blues claimed a 21-point win over the Bulldogs in the third annual Pride Game, held in Round 3 of the 2020 AFLW season.

This year’s guernsey Carlton Pride design was centred around the themes of coming together and being stronger through shared values.
