It was an exciting day for two of Carlton’s new recruits, who trained with their new team for the first time.

Cameron Giles and Nick Holman arrived at Visy Park this morning, after being drafted by the Blues with picks 39 and 51 in last week’s AFL National Draft.

Giles hails from the Clare Valley in South Australia and Holman from Kyabram in central Victoria.

The pair will be joined by Carlton’s top draft pick Patrick Cripps tomorrow, when he arrives from Western Australia.

Today the new Blues were put through their paces with skills training, a weights session and running drills.

Carlton’s Director of Coaching & Development Rob Wiley says they’re already fitting in well.

“They showed really good skills and my first impressions have been very, very pleasing,” Wiley said.

“We had breakfast with them this morning and they were a little bit nervous and quiet, but it won’t take them long before they’re right in amongst it.

“Patrick Cripps arrives tomorrow, so we’re really excited about the prospects of these new players – they’re certainly fine young men.”
