“I’M probably enjoying my footy more than ever.”

Don’t underestimate the power of winning — that’s the opinion of midfielder-turned-forward, Matthew Kennedy.

Having arrived at Ikon Park at the end of 2017, Kennedy had enjoyed just the solitary win in over a season and a half since arriving from Greater Western Sydney.

Now, having taken part in four wins from the last five games, Kennedy said he had learned to not take success for granted.

“I definitely am enjoying it more,” Kennedy said.

“Losing makes you definitely enjoy winning again. My time at the Giants, we were winning every week and you can take it a bit for granted.

“It’s been a pretty tough year for the Club, so to start winning again and seeing everyone smile… we’re starting to get a bit of reward for all of our hard work.”

Since returning to the senior line-up back in Round 15, Kennedy has found a new role in the forward line and the results have shown on the scoreboard.

Pointing out that it was more a case of “unlucky” circumstance, the 22-year-old - who has kicked nine goals in a month - said he was loving life in his new home.

“It wasn’t planned out at all… Charlie Curnow went down with injury against Freo,” he said.

“I went up forward and luckily enough, I’ve been able to go alright and kick a few snags.

“Our pressure has been pretty good and we’re playing the game in our forward half, which has been a big focus. I’ve managed to find myself down there at the right time.”

With the reigning premier waiting in the wings, Kennedy was the task at hand this Sunday.

As he put it, it’s the first of a number of challenges which the Blues can’t wait to attack in the season’s final month.

“At the minute, anything is possible,” he said.

“There are still four weeks and we’re going to try and win all of them of course.

“We’re excited this week by the opportunity to come up against West Coast, a ripping side in great form. It’s a great challenge in itself.”
