THE CARLTON Football Club has welcomed its revised fixture for Rounds 2-5 of the 2020 AFL Premiership season.

The Blues will relaunch their season against the Demons in a Saturday twilight match at Marvel Stadium on June 13.

It will be the first time the two sides will meet at the venue in 11 years, with the Blues winning three of the previous four meetings there.

A trip down the highway to face Geelong will follow, before a Saturday night showdown with arch-rivals Essendon.

A traditional timeslot of 1:45pm on Saturday afternoon against the Saints rounds out the initial fixture released today.

The Blues will play all four games in Victoria and on seven-day turnarounds.

CEO Cain Liddle said that the excitement of football being back was something special.

“To have the fixture confirmed today is incredibly exciting and our football club cannot wait for those games to get started as quickly as possible,” Liddle said.

“Our members and supporters can now count down the 19 days until their side takes the field again, and when we do, our players know they will be playing for every Bluebagger who has stuck by us through this incredibly difficult period.

“Each game presents a challenge against quality opposition, however we are confident the hard work put in by the entire playing list during the shutdown period, and during this current training phase, will have our side ready to perform at their peak the moment that ball is bounced again.

“We would like to thank the work of the AFL, led by Travis Auld and Marcus King, for all their hard work in revising the fixture so that we can all get back to enjoying the game we love.”
