Marc Murphy's bump has been given the all clear, but Mitch Robinson is facing charges from the AFL's Match Review Panel.

Robinson has been charged with a Level Three Striking Offence, which carries 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction, for striking St Kilda's Jack Newnes during the third quarter of Monday night's Round 8 clash at Etihad Stadium.

Based on the video evidence and a medical report from the Saints, the AFL said the incident was assessed as reckless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

As Robinson has no existing good or bad record he can reduce the penalty to a one-match suspension with an early guilty plea.

Carlton has until tomorrow to decide whether to accept the sanction or challenge the charge.

Meanwhile the Match Review Panel found that Murphy's clash with Saints skipper Nick Riewoldt occurred because of circumstances beyond the Carlton captain's control.

The video evidence shows that as Riewoldt was bending down, he was pushed by into Murphy's path by Sam Rowe. No charges have been laid.

The Panel also looked at contact between Simon White and St Kilda’s Luke Dunstan from the third quarter, but found the contact was accidental.
