Carlton players were looking fit and refreshed at training today after last weekend’s bye. The Blues are readying for a tough encounter against Adelaide on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.

A 13-day break since the Blues’ Round 8 victory over St Kilda meant the players were given a few days away from the club.

Andrew Carazzo and Jarrad Waite are both recovering from back-related injuries, which kept them out of the side for the win against the Saints.

The pair trained strongly throughout Tuesday’s session and will no doubt be well considered at the selection table.

Tom Bell completed additional running, with a glove on the hand of the finger he injured in Round 7.

Adelaide was rampant last Thursday night in their 21-point win over Collingwood at the Adelaide Oval, heaping intense pressure on the Pies’ ball-handlers.

The MCG is an unfamiliar ground for much of Adelaide’s squad, with the Crows having played only seven games at the ‘G in the past three seasons.

For Carlton, the versatile Lachie Henderson may be needed at both ends of the ground this weekend, with Adelaide likely to retain its three key forwards in Taylor Walker, James Podsiadly and Josh Jenkins for Sunday’s match.

The Northern Blues, Carlton’s VFL affiliate, also enjoyed a week off last weekend, leaving Mick Malthouse with numerous fresh players to choose from.

Carlton has already selected 34 different players from its list in 2014, the third highest number of any club in the AFL.

The Blues currently sit 13th on the AFL ladder (Adelaide are 10th), just two wins outside of the top eight and one behind the Crows.
