Carlton's Zach Tuohy has revealed he loves Melbourne, loves Carlton – and could stay in Australia for good!

Tuohy was speaking on Triple M following Saturday's win over Richmond at the MCG.

The big kicking Irishman has paid tribute to his teammates, saying they wanted to take a stand – and they did.

"It was a massive opportunity for us to send a message and say that we're not just going to give up when things go against us," Tuohy said. "So it's a credit to the boys, it was a really big win for us."

The match marked a milestone for Tuohy – his 50th AFL game since being recruited as an International Rookie in the 2010 draft.

The 23-year-old say he's hopeful of returning to Ireland in October, to compete in the International Rules Series.

But before that – Tuohy is hopeful he'll see some September action.

"We're still in with a chance to play finals, so we're certainly not holding up any white flag just yet," Tuohy said.

"We're focusing on a big game this week against Essendon, and as we're finishing the year against Port Adelaide, this could decide our fate."
