The AFL’s Trade Period kicked off with a bang for Carlton, with the Blues landing Dale Thomas and trading Shaun Hampson to Richmond.

But since then it has been all-quiet on the home front – although as always in football, the speculation rolls on.

Here’s a wrap up of what’s being said about Carlton this week:

Lions List Manager Rob Kerr said his club "just about had a deal" with Carlton for half-back Sam Docherty. "It’s just a matter of how some of the other trades (pan) out and what that might mean in terms of picks and shuffling of picks before we make any firm commitments." – The Age

Paul Chapman will today undergo medical tests at Essendon and Carlton, but the Blues won't be seduced into a bidding war with its cross-town rival.

Carlton officials are convinced Chapman is headed to the Mark Thompson-coached Bombers, who have deeper pockets. – Sam Edmund, Herald Sun

The Blues have already pulled off a coup to secure Collingwood premiership star Dale Thomas, who will help address their need for speed and spunk.

Now, with their key-forward issues well documented, they could do a lot worse than target former Geelong forward James Podsiadly. – Ben Collins, AFL.com.au

Carlton is set to enter discussions with West Coast that could send contracted defender Josh Bootsma to the Eagles if a suitable deal can be struck.

The Blues met with Bootsma's management on Monday morning to discuss his future and confirmed they were open to trading the 20-year-old. – Nathan Schmook, AFL.com.au
