FOR the players, coaches, staff, families and supporters.

That’s who David Teague said Sunday night’s win was for.

Carlton kicked off life in the Gold Coast hub in the best possible way, recording its biggest win since 2014 in a 52-point triumph.

It was a collective effort on the ground which got the job done for the Blues, and Teague said everyone of the Navy Blue persuasion deserved the four points.

“We’ve been away from our friends, our family and our supporters who have been outstanding — particularly our families,” Teague said.

“After the game, I selfishly wanted to enjoy the experience of being with the players, the other coaches and the staff.

“They’re putting a lot of work in, they’re away from their families. The way they handled themselves today and went about it was really good.”

Teague saved a special mention for the supporters, with the majority of the 2,500 in attendance at Metricon Stadium clearly cheering the Blues on.

The Senior Coach said he hoped the victory put a smile on the face of not only those in the crowd, but everyone watching at home.

“Our supporters have stuck by us all the way: even the crowd we had here were really good,” he said.

“I know our fans have been tuning in and watching, I really hope they got some joy out of that game. We want to put smiles on their faces.”
