IN A tight contest against the top-ranked side, two young Carlton leaders have been recognised in the AFLCA votes for Round 7. 

For another outstanding performance around the ground, second-year Blue Sam Walsh received the highest votes of any Blue this week, polling five in the narrow loss against Port Adelaide.

Alongside a Mark of the Year nomination, Walsh recorded 16 disposals and two goals for his showing on the wing.

Jacob Weitering also received a vote for his stellar defensive work against Justin Westhoff, rendering the star forward goalless for the game while recording three intercept marks.

Weitering has now polled in four of seven games this season, having conceded just four goals from seven games to direct opponents this season.
