CARLTON midfielder Ed Curnow has signed a one-year deal to continue his career in the Navy Blue.

One of the most beloved Carlton players in the modern era, Curnow has consistently given his all for the guernsey over the last 10 seasons.

The 30-year-old has built his career off hard work and determination, starting out as a rookie with the Adelaide Crows in 2008 before two eye-catching seasons in the VFL for Box Hill.

Now after 182 games at the elite level, Curnow stands as one of the AFL’s most respected players.

More than just a footballer, Curnow has also shown a care for the game beyond just on the field, currently holding a position on the Board of the AFL Players' Association.

He has also been a member of the Blues’ leadership group since 2016, playing a leading hand in the growth and development of his younger teammates.

Curnow said he was looking forward to helping the group continue to take steps forward in 2021.

“We’ve experienced a lot as a group over the last few years, we’ve worked hard but understand we’ve got a long way to go to get to where we want to be: we are up for that challenge,” Curnow said.

“I just want to say thank you to all my teammates, coaches and family who have helped me throughout my career to date, and of course our members and supporters for sticking with us and making this football club such a great place to be a part of.”

Blues Head of List Management Nick Austin said Curnow continues to set the standard.

“A player and person of the quality of Ed Curnow is so valuable to a football club,” Austin said.

“He sets the standard every day at training, on game day and how he conducts himself during the week.

“Ed has been a terrific player for this football club for 10 years and we look forward to seeing him continue to have a positive impact on our group both on and off the field.”
