RARING and ready to go.

Carlton skipper Kerryn Harrington couldn’t wait to get started on the first official night of pre-season on Thursday.

Welcoming six new recruits into the fold over an off-season like no other, Harrington was clear in her goals for the remainder of 2020.

“I think everyone’s just raring to go, obviously it’s been a challenging time for everyone - particularly in Victoria - so the girls are just really excited,” Harrington said.

“The new players that have come in have provided so much already, I’m really keen to see what they can do for us this season and for the girls that have been lacking football for a little while I think there’s just a huge sense of excitement and everyone’s just really keen to go.

“There’s so much time left to go in our pre-season, so I think it’s just coming in and progressing towards being game fit come post-Christmas time.”

There were six new faces running around Ikon Park on Thursday night, with new draftees Mimi Hill, Daisy Walker and Winnie Laing joining trade recruits Elise O’Dea, Maddy Guerin and Charlotte Hammans on the park.

With the Blues returning in the previous weeks for an informal introduction to pre-season, Harrington believes the newbies are settling in well.

“For the girls I think it was probably a nice induction for them. We’d been separated into our smaller groups for the last few weeks so for those girls coming in, they didn’t get hit with 27 new faces straight away,” she said.

“Tonight will be the first time that we all get to be together so I’m sure that they’re nervous and excited but our girls have done a great job of getting around those players and making them feel really welcome.”
