THE CARLTON Football Club is pleased to confirm Eddie Betts has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal.

The much-loved forward will continue his playing career into the 2021 season, providing invaluable leadership and experience for his teammates both on and off the field.

Possessing an incredible goal sense paired with an ability to create something out of nothing, Betts is set to increase his 613-career goal tally, which has him on the cusp of the top 30 greatest goalkickers in AFL history.

Betts will
look to add to his 331 games at the elite level in season 2021, with  Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin outlining it was clear why the decision was made to re-sign Betts.

Eddie has been a terrific player for our Club and we look forward to him continuing next season," Austin said.

"As a lively small forward, we all know what he brings to our side and what he is capable of inside 50, which is only going to benefit our football club in 2021.

It cannot be understated how valuable Eddie’s leadership is for our forward group, not just on game day but the work he is doing and the experience he is sharing in every review, in every meeting.”

Betts said he was looking forward to next year and could not wait to be playing in front of the Carlton faithful again.

“I’ve loved every minute of being back home at the Club this year but it hasn’t felt the same without all our members and supporters, I can’t wait to play in front of them and play for them again next season,” Betts said.

My number one priority next year will be playing good football and doing everything I possibly can to help this club win games and earn the success we have been working towards.

Betts will also contribute to the community in an off-field capacity in 2021, with the small forward to assist in the delivery of community program to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players, staff, and Indigenous Australians.
