IT'S BEEN 32 years since the Blues have played a game of football in Moorabbin, a streak that will be broken this Saturday afternoon.

Carlton will take on St Kilda, looking to get its first win on the board for the 2021 AFLW season.

Details: Moorabbin Oval, Saturday 13 February, 5.10 AEDT.
Broadcast: Fox Footy from 5pm, womens.afl, Kayo

The game in focus:

Carlton haven’t had the most desirable start to their season, losing both of its games by under one goal.

The Blues will be looking to get a win over the Saints to even up the ledger.

Carlton have had recent experience playing St Kilda in a pre-season scrimmage, so they will be familiar with the playing style of the Saints.

After a fast start last week against the Bulldogs, the Blues need to be able to play out all four quarters to keep the Saints at bay and get over the line.

What to watch:

Two young-guns of the competition are set to go head-to-head this Saturday afternoon, with Maddy Prespakis and Georgia Patrikios meeting in what will be a must-watch clash in the midfield.

Prespakis has polled four votes in the last two games in the AFLW Champion Player of the Year count, averaging 21 disposals and five clearances so far in 2021.

However, the 2020 AFLW Best and Fairest will be coming up against an in-form Patrikios, who had career-best figures of 27 disposals and six tackles in the Saints' narrow loss to the Kangaroos last week.

There's another young Blue for fans to also keep an eye on, with 2021 draftee Mimi Hill putting on a show last week against the Bulldogs.

Finding her feet in just her second game, Hill was prolific playing across the half-back line and wing collecting 19 disposals and seven intercept position on the night.

Hill will be one to look out for in just her third game, as her elite work rate does the talking.

Blue view:

While there will be no crowds at Moorabbin Oval this weekend, our Bluebaggers will be there in spirit.

If Carlton are able to combine the second-half performance of Round 1 and the first-half performance of Round 2, there is no reason they won't be able to overcome St Kilda to register a much-needed win.

The likely key inclusions of Mua Laloifi, Gab Pound and Lucy McEvoy will also bolster the line-up and help the Blues find the transitional flow they've been searching for so far in 2021.
