Carlton midfielder David Ellard has pulled out of the club's clash with West Coast at Etihad Stadium on Saturday due to injury.
Ellard was sore in his right calf at training on Friday, so the Blues decided not to take the risk and withdrew him from the squad.
Blues youngster Troy Menzel has replaced Ellard in the final 22, while Dennis Armfield has been upgraded to the emergency list.
Ellard played in all five of the Blues' games to open the season. He averaged 11 possessions per game and kicked seven goals.
The Blues are set to be boosted by experience, with Brock McLean, Jeff Garlett, Michael Jamison and Mitch Robinson all making their way back into the side.
