Overview

Jess Hosking had a breakout season for the Blues in her fourth season, taking on a new role from previous years. 

Hosking began the season with a stint in the forward line, as well as floating through the middle and down back, providing pressure and experience wherever she went. 

Hosking played a physical brand of footy in 2021, averaging over three tackles a game, laying 30 in total over her nine games this season. 

In Round 2 against the Bulldogs, Hosking gained a career-high 344 metres at Whitten Oval, with her flexibility across the ground vital for Carlton's ball movement over the season. 

Best performance 

Hosking's best performance came against Richmond in Round 4. 

It was no surprise that Hosking was fired up in the first time she faced her sister Sarah, with Hosking gathering a career-high 19 disposals in a nail-biting contest at IKON Park. 

Alongside two tackles, Hosking and the Blues took the challenge to the Tigers, taking home the five-point win in the end. 

Season highlight 

A goal four years in the making. 

In Round 1 against Collingwood, Hosking had her first stint in the forward line, which led to her slotting her first career goal in the AFLW. 

While it was Hosking's only goal for the season, it was one she won't forget.
