Young Blue Serena Gibbs finished her 2021 campaign as one of Carlton's biggest improvers.

Returning from injury and developing strongly over the off-season, Gibbs put herself in the best position for success come the beginning of her second year at the highest level.

Building towards an eventual AFLW debut in Round 5, Gibbs played three senior games in 2021 and proved a genuine option up forward and in the ruck for the Blues.

BEST PERFORMANCE

Acting as the Blues' key tall in offence when facing the Cats at home in Round 6, Gibbs found her confidence at the senior level.

Getting plenty of the ball inside 50, Gibbs finished the afternoon with two majors to contribute to Carlton's 33-point victory.

There was plenty to celebrate for the youngster, with her first goal in Navy Blue coming in front of a home crowd at IKON park and in her first win.

Standing at the centre of the post-match Gatorade shower, Gibbs won't soon forget that afternoon.
