AN EMERGING midfielder with plenty of upside, Keeley Sherar is now a Blue.

Selected with pick No.11, Carlton welcomed the athletic Sherar on the night of the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft from the Eastern Ranges.

A consistent ball winner with an impressive turn of foot, Sherar averaged 14.8 disposals in the NAB League competition in 2021, as well as just shy of five tackles per game.

Sherar’s athleticism is something that has caught many recruiter’s eyes, but she can back it up with tackling pressure and setting up scoring opportunities.

As well as performing well for the Eastern Ranges, Sherar played four solid games for Hawthorn’s VFLW side, with her transition running and physicality in the contest standing out in equal measure.

GM of Women’s Football, Brett Munro is excited about the acquisition of Sherar, with her ball-winning skills an enticing prospect for the Blues.

“We are really excited to have Keeley on board,” Munro said.

“She has some really eye-catching moments through the midfield: she’s got some tricks, with her pace and her sidestep, and she’s someone who rarely has a bad game.

“Keeley really took her game to another level this season and her form and future scope for improvement couldn’t be ignored. She gets full use out of her disposals and is quite unselfish in the forward half, so we’re looking forward to adding her to our mix.”
