The Carlton Football Club is pleased to announce that young forward Josh Honey has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal.

Remaining on the Club’s rookie list, Honey will continue to progress his development at IKON Park for his third season in the No.36.

Arriving at the Club during the 2019 NAB AFL rookie draft, Honey earned his first senior appearance in Round 12 2020, returning to line-up on five occasions this season.

While he was named the medical sub in Round 10, the 19-year-old took to the field during the final four rounds, kicking six goals in three games during that stretch.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said the Club was looking forward to seeing the speedster take the next step in 2022.

“Josh is a lively player and with his pace he has the ability to add a real spark to the forward line,” Austin said.

“It was pleasing to see him showcase that at the back end of the season, bringing his energy and gaining consistency across the last four games.

“We know Josh will take confidence from his form across his VFL and AFL appearances this season and we are excited to see him continue to work hard to take the next step in his development next year.”
