THE Carlton Football Club can today confirm forward Serena Gibbs has been placed on the Inactive List ahead of the 2022 AFLW Season.
Gibbs has made the decision to take some time away from the game to focus on her mental health.
Over recent months the Club has been providing ongoing support to the 21-year-old, with the focus remaining on her personal well-being.
Blues General Manager of Women’s Football Brett Munro said the Club was fully supportive of Gibbs’ decision.
“Serena is loved at our club and as much as we want her to remain part of our program, football is not everything – the personal health of our players will always be the number one priority,” Munro said.
“We admire Serena for placing her health first and will continue to support her in any way we can.”
The Blues will have the option of adding a replacement player to its squad for the 2022 AFLW season.
