IN A season where he received his first All-Australian blazer, could Adam Saad take home his first best-and-fairest award?

After a career-best season with the Blues, which saw him play all games bar one due to AFL Health and Safety Protocols, the fan favourite is expected to poll well in tonight's 2022 John Nicholls Medal.

Saad’s run, carry and dash in defence was a crucial facet of Carlton’s offensive and defensive game, locking down on his opponent while generating speed on the ball from down back.

A spot on the All-Australian half-back line was reward for his outstanding work, showcasing his defensive talents against some of the competition's best small forwards.

Playing his 150th game in Round 21, Saad was able to share in some special moments, having his family in the rooms and running out with his daughter in his arms.

Saad received three Brownlow votes and eight AFLCA votes for his performance against the Giants in Round 19, where he also picked up a Mark of the Year nomination for his third-quarter screamer.

Saad’s impact was felt at both ends of the ground that day, as he accumulated 25 disposals, four rebound 50s, four inside 50s and three one percenters, alongside a career-high 12 marks.

He also polled coaches' votes in Rounds 4, 7, 14, 15 and 16, with the consistency of his game holding him in good stead: it's likely he will poll right throughout the season in tonight's vote count, rather than in patches.
