THE Carlton Football Club is delighted to announce ruck Marc Pittonet has signed on for another four years at the Blues.
It continues a courageous football story which has seen Pittonet overcome multiple obstacles and injuries to reach 50 AFL games last week after nine years in the system.
Arriving at IKON Park at the end of 2019 after a trade with Hawthorn for picks Nos.54 and 63, Pittonet debuted for the Blues in Round 2, 2020 against Melbourne.
The 26-year-old has emerged as an important cog in the Carlton midfield since his arrival at IKON Park, making an art of giving his teammates first look at stoppages. The ruck has continued last year's form with a strong start to the 2023 AFL season: after Round 7, Pittonet ranked as the AFL’s most efficient ruckman, ranking No.1 for his rate of hitouts to advantage, managing a rating of 19.38 per cent from 289 ruck contests.
Well loved by his teammates, he received the Spirit of Carlton award in 2020 for the player that best encompasses the spirit of the Club both on and off the field. He won the Best Clubman award the following year.
Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said he is thrilled that Pittonet will continue to wear the Navy Blue until 2027.
“Since arriving at Carlton, Marc has developed into an integral player for our side and continues to relish every opportunity given to him,” Austin said.
“The new deal is well-deserved recognition of the incredible amount of hard work Marc has put in to grow his game, and a testament to his dedication, to not only his ruck craft but also to the Club.
FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME Pittonet pens about elusive milestone
“Marc not only plays a crucial role on-field, but his leadership and contribution off the field is really evident and appreciated by those around him.
“We cannot wait to see what the future holds for Marc and we are really pleased he will remain at the Carlton Football Club until 2027.”
