OVERVIEW

‘SOS’, the third-generation Silvagni, made his long awaited debut in Round 15 against Collingwood at the MCG.

In his first match, the 2015 father-son selection had 15 disposals, including 11 kicks and six marks. His competitive spirit, tackling and ferocity around the ball were standout traits of the first-year player.

These characteristics were also evident against Hawthorn in Round 19, when Silvagni chased down Hawthorn defender Grant Birchall inside Carlton’s forward 50 to affect his kick and ultimately provide the Blues with a major.

After kicking his first goal against Adelaide at the MCG, Silvagni managed to put six more on the board, including a three-goal game against the Lions in Round 21. He ended the season with seven goals from eight games.

Silvagni was rewarded for his impressive debut season with a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the Blues until at least the end of the 2018 season.

HE SAID IT

“Bolts let me know on Wednesday, it was a pretty special feeling, I had no idea. He did it in a way that kept me hanging for a bit. I thought I was in his office just to watch some vision – it was a great feeling."

- Silvagni talking after his first AFL game about when he found out he was playing.

THEY SAID IT

“There’s no doubt he’s going to have a long career at Carlton. He’s going to get better and better with every game he plays.”

- Vice-captain Kade Simpson speaks glowingly of Silvagni after his debut game.
