A DOUBLE century of George.
This Saturday night, George Hewett will achieve a significant personal milestone when he runs out for his 200th AFL game.
Across two clubs, Hewett has forged a reputation as a solid, tough and reliable teammate, having made his debut nine years ago when the South Australian ran out for Sydney in the opening round of 2016.
Playing a Grand Final in his first season with the Swans, Hewett played 120 games in the Harbour City before crossing to the Blues as a free agent, where he has been a constant presence of Carlton’s midfield group since then.
Hewett has been as consistent as they come for the Blues on the way to a career-best campaign in 2025, averaging over 27 disposals, 13 contested possessions and six clearances per game.
On six occasions this year Hewett has accumulated over 30 disposals, winning the SuperClash Superhero Medal as the best afield against North Melbourne while he’s fresh off a 36-disposal showing at the weekend against Fremantle. He's one of only two players this season to currently rank inside the top 10 of the competition for both disposals and tackles.
Occasionally referred to as ‘the GOAT’ by his teammates, Hewett - who re-signed with the Blues until the end of 2027 earlier this year - is highly regarded for not only his on-field performance, but also his dedication and commitment to his craft, constantly getting the best out of himself on the back of diligent preparation and tireless work ethic.
When he runs through the banner for game No.200 this Saturday night against the Gold Coast Suns, it’ll be another chance for the Carlton family to show that - as has been the case since he arrived at the end of 2021 - everybody loves George.
