THE Carlton Football Club is excited to welcome Oliver Florent to IKON Park after completing a trade with Sydney today.
The Blues acquired the exciting and speedy half-back in exchange for a 2026 third-round selection on the final day of the 2025 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.
Florent arrives at IKON Park with a wealth of experience, having played 184 AFL games - 130 of those consecutively for the Swans from Round 20, 2019 to Round 12, 2025 - including every game in both Sydney’s Grand Final seasons.
Along with his consistency over a long period of time, Florent’s explosive speed and playmaking ability off half-back makes him a significant addition to the Blues’ ball movement.
Over his career the 27-year-old has played predominantly across half-back for the Swans across his nine seasons, debuting for Sydney in Round 1, 2017.
Florent joins fellow new recruit and 2016 first-round selection Ben Ainsworth in joining the Club, as well as Campbell Chesser and Liam Reidy.
Nick Austin said the Club was very pleased to be adding a player who fits the exact attributes the Club was looking to acquire this trade period.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Ollie to IKON Park, a player we can see adding real value to our squad, fitting an area of need for us in regards to his speed and play-making ability, while being a quality person we are looking to add to our group,” Austin said.
“He is exactly the type of player we’ve been targeting – someone who can execute his role at a high level, deliver on the outside with speed and has finals-level experience.
“In our discussions with Ollie over the last period of time, it was clear the chance to get back to Victoria to join our club, be part of our environment and grow with a group that has significant upside moving forward was an opportunity he was ready to make his own. We can’t wait to get him in the Navy Blue.
“That has been a consistent theme with all four recruits we have brought in this trade period, a genuine excitement to come and be part of what our Club is building into 2026 and beyond. We are really pleased to have added Ollie alongside Ben, Liam and Campbell, with all four players boosting real areas of need for us.”
