“WE’LL support him.”
Two of Jesse Motlop’s closest mates at Carlton are backing the sidelined Blue to still be the character that has been infectious at IKON Park around the locker room.
It was on Monday 12 January when Motlop sustained an ACL injury, rendering him to the sidelines a month before games roll around for Carlton.
Having recently moved in with Motlop, Ashton Moir said that - true to form - his new housemate had a positive outlook in the injury’s aftermath.
And with close friend Zac Williams by his side who’s been through the same injury, Motlop will be well-supported at Carlton.
“It’s a tough time, not only for ‘Motsy’ but for the whole group - he was flying in training and was setting his year up pretty well,” Williams said.
“It just takes one instant. Footy clubs are great places when you’re in rehab to stay connected to people: you’ve got 45 blokes plus staff around you that you can chat to every day.
“Knowing ‘Motsy’, he’ll bring that energy every day. He’s a very energetic person which everyone loves - no doubt after he gets his surgery, he’ll be back in here every day and he’ll be annoying everyone.”
Moir echoed those sentiments, particularly when it came to the impact that Motlop can still have on the wider playing group despite looking at a lengthy rehab process.
“He’s one of the blokes that everybody loves. He’ll still be around the Club, his energy and positivity will always be around us,” Moir said.
“He was pretty positive, he’s the kind of guy that’s really resilient. He’s a guy that’ll work really hard on this: he’ll put his focus into others as well, he’s not a guy that’s down in the dumps for himself.”
