CARLTON midfielder Jagga Smith has put pen to paper, signing a contract extension to remain at IKON Park until at least the end of 2030.

Drafted in 2024 with pick No.3, Smith who was highly touted in his draft year, ultimately arriving at IKON Park following the strategic efforts of the Club’s recruiting team.

The 20‑year‑old has made an immediate impact since arriving at IKON Park, already showcasing impressive leadership and maturity for a player of this age.

Following an impressive debut game in Opening Round against Sydney where he had 27 disposals, Smith earned himself a Telstra Rising Star nomination for Round 1 with 32 disposals, 11 score involvements plus five tackles and three clearances in his first game at the MCG.

Smith’s ability to find the ball, move with ease and stay composed under pressure - as well as his warm persona and genuine love for the sport - has quickly made him a fan favourite.

Despite having well over a year to run on his existing deal, Smith’s contract re-signing is a significant show of mutual faith between both the player and the Club.

He becomes the third Blue to re-sign at this early stage of the 2026 season, joining midfield running partner Sam Walsh (2034) and long-time best mate Cooper Lord (2029) in re-committing to Carlton.

Head of List Management Nick Austin described Smith as a fierce competitor and an exciting prospect for the future of the Club.

"What we love about Jagga is his willingness to do whatever is asked of him during training or in a game. A natural competitor, he is a player who has the ability to consistently win the ball, bring others into the game whilst also showcasing impressive leadership for such a young age,” Austin said.

“We had him held in high regard going into the draft and had a targeted approach to make him a Blue. Two years on, we are even more impressed with who he is as a player and a person - we are thrilled he has signed on with the Club.

“He is a resilient person with outstanding character and maturity beyond his years, which we saw clearly last year in the way he dedicated himself to his rehab program.

“With only two games under his belt, it's safe to say the best is yet to come with Jagga and we can’t wait to see what he can produce in the Navy Blue.”
