THE Carlton Football Club is delighted to announce the re-signing of Matthew Kreuzer.

The 30-year-old has signed a one-year deal that will see him enter a 13th season in the Navy Blue.

Kreuzer has played 183 games for the Blues since being selected with the No.1 pick in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft.

He is the beloved cult hero amongst the Carlton faithful, who at his best is regarded as one of the elite ruckmen in the competition.

This season, Kreuzer has averaged close to a career-best 30 hitouts a game across 10 appearances.

The veteran’s re-signing follows that of co-captain Sam Docherty and leader Ed Curnow who also inked new deals with the Club two weeks ago.

The 30-year-old said he was proud to continue his career as a one-club player.

“I’ve been here my whole career and this place is like a second home to me. It means a lot to say that I’m a one-club player at Carlton,” Kreuzer said.

“The Club has shown great faith in me throughout my career, the supporters have been incredible to me and I am motivated to repay the faith and help this playing group achieve the success our supporters deserve.”

“I’m looking forward to the team having a strong finish to the year and running out in the Navy Blue again next season.”

Carlton General Manager of List Management and Strategy Stephen Silvagni said the Club was pleased to retain Kreuzer’s services for next season.

“Kreuz is a ‘heart-and-soul’ player of this football club so we are really happy to see him remain at the Blues,” Silvagni said.

“His work ethic, resilience and determination make him important to the progression of this group.

“Kreuz is held in very high regard at the Club and is a daily example to our younger players of what it takes to earn your career at the elite level.”
