CARLTON has added to its ruck stocks with the addition of Marc Pittonet, securing the ruckman as well as pick No.61 from Hawthorn in exchange for picks No.54 and 63 in the 2019 NAB AFL draft.

The Blues had earlier engaged in a pick swap with the Sydney Swans to acquire picks No.54 and No.63 for pick No.48.

Pittonet arrives at Ikon Park after the 23-year-old put together a standout season with the Box Hill Hawks in the VFL.

The 202cm ruckman placed equal-fourth in the J.J. Liston Trophy this year and finished runner-up in the Box Hill best and fairest after averaging 17 disposals and 38 hitouts in his 14 VFL appearances.

Pittonet was at his imposing best against Coburg in Round 4, picking up 29 disposals, four marks, four tackles, 42 hitouts and a goal in a best-on-ground performance.

His two appearances at AFL level in 2019 saw Pittonet win 29 hitouts (10 to advantage) and lay four tackles against the Power in Round 10, before backing it up the following week with 20 hitouts and three tackles against the Lions.

Pittonet played seven matches for the Hawks after being drafted from the Oakleigh Chargers with pick No.50 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.

Carlton GM of List Management and Strategy Stephen Silvagni said the Club was pleased to add the imposing big man to the Blues’ ruck division.

“Marc has a big physical presence and plays with real physicality and aggression, he is a great fit for us,” Silvagni said.

“He is 23, has already been on an AFL list for five years and as a ruckman he is coming into his own.

“We look forward to Marc working with our ruck coach Hamish McIntosh as he adds some real strength to our ruck division.”

Carlton now holds picks Nos.9, 43, 61, 72 and 85 in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft.

The 2019 Telstra AFL Trade Period concludes at 7:30pm AEDT on Wednesday 16 October.
